Victor da Rosa, Excellence in Teaching
A writer of scholarly journals and books on ethnic relations, international development, and anthropology, Dr. Da Rosa received many awards including the title of “Comendador” of the Order of Prince Henry the Navigator from the Portuguese government in 1989, an excellence in teaching from the Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations, and “Distinguished Professor of the Year, 1997,” from the University of Ottawa.
In 1992, he was elected a member of Instituto Historica e Geografico de Santa Catarina, an affiliate of the Federal University of Santa Catarina in Brazil. In 2003, he was honored with the Medalha de Merito Cultural (CMTN-Portugal). Dr. Da Rosa teamed with Professor Carlos Teixeira to co-edit “The Portuguese in Canada”, a collection of essays outlining the history of the Portuguese Canadian experience.
