Frank Alvarez, A Radio Icon

Frank Alvarez is the President and CEO of CIRV RADIO 88.9FM Multicultural radio. His contribution to the Portuguese Canadian community includes Executive Director and Founder of the Canada-Portugal Chamber of Commerce, Vice President and Founder of "Vila Gaspar Corte Real", and President of Federation of Portuguese Canadian Business and Professionals. In 1998, he was commended by the President of Portugal and awarded the honourary title of "Comendador da Ordem de Merito" (Order of Portugal). He was awarded the Canadian Ethnic Journalists and Writer's Club Award for the best feature story in 1999, and the same year, Mayor Mel Lastman granted him the Key to the City of Toronto.
